About Us

In 2019, Teofilo Reyes Jr. (TEO) created the #My242scholarship by TEO II IV II to provide financial assistance for any student willing to apply and voice their pursuit of their passion. After speaking at many high schools, creating online videos, and advertising the application on social media, once the scholarship cycle was complete, there were zero applicants to be found. Zero.

Though TEO really wanted to provide a scholarship for a student, the application process really caused him to analyze what happened and how he could improve the following year. One of the major learning points TEO realized was that the concept of actually voicing your interests out loud, big or small, was an action that wasn’t universally embraced regardless of age. Some key feedback provided by students was the fact that they would have applied if they didn’t have to share a video of them telling people they wanted to do (many feeling embarrassed to do so). Another observation was that many students that were pursuing a trade at a technical school didn’t feel that scholarships applied to their “unconventional” schools.

After much observation, TEO noticed that the lack of scholarship applications involved more than just willingness to apply, but overall support, perspective, and behavior.  With an effort to make a change to the status quo, TEO knew that it would take more than just a single scholarship to make a difference in how people unapologetically embraced the pursuit of a career of their genuine interest, it would take:

  • Challenging Cultural Norms

  • Consistent Community Engagement

  • Professional Development

  • Provide Diverse Perspective

  • Global Exposure

  • Leadership Opportunities

In January 2020, the True Education & Outreach Foundation was founded.

Our Vision

To have everyone make a living in a career they truly enjoy.

This vision is founded from the belief that everyone should have the right to earn a living doing what they love or what they have the opportunity to learn. It is common place for individuals to fade away from their dreams of earning a living  founded in their genuine interests due to never connecting their talents to the resources needed to succeed.

That is where True Education Outreach will level the field.

Our Mission

Promote the pursuit of continuing education of a genuine interest while providing dynamic local and global development programs.

The TEO Foundation believes that everyone has the right to pursue knowledge and education in traditional or non traditional settings in order to become and remain productive members of society.

Why TEO Foundation:

I wanted to create an organization that empowers others to learn and monetize their interests regardless of their formal education background. Ultimate Goal:

My ultimate goal is to help every willing person embrace their potential, strengthen their resilience, achieve their dream and maintain it. I also want to pay off my student loans and buy some land for my family to live on.

Why TEO Foundation:

I have always held close to the value of authenticity. Although my idea of that word “authentic” has morphed from my childhood, where I thought that wearing baggy shorts (good ole Jynco days, ha!) and a gold chain was the best way to express my authentic self, to now thinking through the reality that it’s expressed in many moments including how I spend my time on weekends with loved ones and in the tone of voice I have when managing a group people with a shared goal. With my ever evolving understanding of who I am authentically, the intent has not been lost over the years that there is a worthy goal of being true to one’s self. I joined TEO Foundation because I believe the rhythm of life requires authenticity in order to live life to the fullest. I want to be a part of something where people benefit from our hard work of creating opportunities in which their career is something they are passionate about.

Ultimate Goal:

My ultimate goal is to build a company of my own that more effectively utilizes public and private funds to create housing for low income communities.

Fun:

I enjoy fixing up my old house, playing guitar at home, and trying new things.

Why TEO Foundation:

I felt like this was a great opportunity to help share my knowledge and experiences with students who are looking to pursue a professional career. There are things I had to learn along the way and if I can provide that information to college graduates, I know it will help them succeed. This organization also provides me the opportunity to really pursue my passion which is helping others. I also wanted to be part of an organization that has core values of success and promote continued education.

Ultimate Goal:

The ultimate goal I have is to continue further in my career in Human Resources and to be part of something that makes a huge difference in a community.

I enjoy all types of sport activities. I am a huge DC and Marvel junkie. I also love to listen and dance to music.
